So to start, I love September. It is the best month out of the entire year. Oktoberfest’s, the beginning of fall BUT still warm like summer, craft fairs, food festivals, and so so so much more. I sometimes feel like September flies by because I jam pack every weekend with something awesome to do. ALSO lets not forget about ALL the birthdays, oh my goodness, so many birthdays! It is insane. Lucky for us, Pete and I we are both September babies and 6 days apart to boot! So thats pretty cool.
This year was kind of crazy because we came back from California literally the weekend right before Pete’s birthday and then mine was the weekend after. We obviously pre-planned the festivities ahead of time though.
I bought tickets for the 4th annual Beer for Beasts. A craft beer fest charity event hosted by Beer Advocate and Brooklyn’s own Sixpoint Brewery! It took place at the Bell House in Brooklyn, NY and all the proceeds went to the Humane Society of New York! They had tons of exclusive one-of-a-kind beers and a bunch of vegetarian food trucks. All the food trucks and the beer was included in our ticket. It was awesome and we had a blast.
LOOK AT SOME OF THOSE BEERS! My favorites were Hob Snob – basically a beer that tasted like a delicious cookie, Elderflower Prosecco Hefeweizen, Boo’s Brew – a wheat beer with hints of lavender and blueberries and Clyde’s Banana Nitro Milk Stout – Yeah.. amazing. Mind altering brews.
I LOVE Melt Bakery! Earlier this year, my girlfriend and I went on an epic subway adventure to find their little nook in Lower East Side, NY. Today their featured event sandwich was a ginger bread cookie with a Sixpoint ale ice cream…. I had two.. they were mini sized so it was ok.
Oh Biz Markie… probably the best mix of music ever.. 80’s to 90’s remixes. So fun.
Random Brooklyn art. I can’t get enough of it!
We stayed until sunday so we could hit up the Renegade Craft Fair. You couldn’t get me to miss this craft fair.. ever. This craft fair is three times a year, a summer, winter and mini summer market and usually features around 200+ indie craft booths. They also have markets in LA, Chicago, Austin, London and San Francisco twice a year.
I purchased this patch from ELLOTHERE ! Because who doesn’t love a good pair of cut off shorts with the phrase ‘Summer Vibes’ on it! Their work is really clean, simple vector drawings with a really fun twist.
Their business card!!!! A letterpressed gem <3
Ahh Genevieve Santos is AMAZING. Her work is absolutely adorable. She creates imaginative characters in a very whimsical watercolor world. She is an amazing artist.
Look at this booth setup!! Definitely the most creative booth Iv’e seen yet.
Two Arms Inc is one of my favorite Brooklyn-based design and illustration studios in NYC. They are a really down to earth husband and wife team and their work is all sorts of awesome.
Photo Booth radar – always on.
I finally bought a Spirit Eye ceramic dish from Demetria Chappo Ceramics. She makes all sorts of dishes like this in different colors and sizes and few other products as well. She’s an incredibly sweet person and her work is some of my favorite.
Before heading back home on the train we stopped at a little French bakery called Bakeri. I secretly grabbed two lavender shortbreads (yes, lavender shortbreads) so that I could give pete a proper Happy Birthday when we got home! The card is from The Dancing Cat (check out my previous post about them!).
One birthday weekend down, one to go! It was a great success! We got to hang out with three of our New York City friends which is always so much fun :)
Adios September, you rocked!
