Dropping by to tell you all about my awesome time in New York City this past weekend.
For Christmas this year two very good friends of ours handed Pete and I two huge boxes for Christmas. Nervous that they had just completely outdone me at the gift game, we opened our gifts. Surprised and slightly shocked were two tickets for a Jack White concert at Madison Square Garden in NYC. UMMMM.. what?! Ridiculous.
SO on that note we were pretty pumped about the weekend. Not only about finally getting to see Jack White live, but just generally being in NYC for the entire weekend with no plans, but to explore at our own pace, which is a glorious feeling. New York is overwhelming at times because there is just SO much to do, but thats the beauty.
This show was absolutely amazing. Jack White killed it. At a whopping 5 feet I can never see the stage at shows, but standing in the back listening to all the amazing music that was being played around me was all I needed.
After the show my girlfriend Trish insisted that we go to this small little speakeasy called Middle Branch. It was a mixology bar where I had the most amazing and crafty cocktails I think I’ve ever had. The bartender that served us was so nice and so creative. It was fun to see a mixologist who really loved his craft.
We ended up renting an airbnb near Chinatown which worked out well. It was in a great spot and did the trick.
For brunch after a longggg night of cruising around the city we went to Bread Nolita. An order of coffee and mimosas all around. Breakfast potatoes were an all around favorite at this place.
Little Italy! I felt like it was only a street long, but there were some cool little places I would love to revisit another time.
BABY HULK?! #woah
Three studly men… move aside ladies, they’re with us!
After brunch we headed to Brooklyn for some more exploring and to meet up with two more of my friends. Didn’t have any plans so we hopped on the subway and made our way over.
First stop, Barcade. Here I had a Dogfish Head Birra Etrusca Bronze on tap. Specialty ingredients included hazelnut flour, pomegranates, Italian chestnut honey, Delaware wildflower honey and clover honey. Say WHAT.. done. Amazing, per usual. I also dominated at Tapper, the only old school video game that I will absolutely destroy anyone and everyone in the bar at.
After walking around in the freezing cold, which felt like forever, looking for a place to eat – at dinner time – on a Saturday night – in Brooklyn (haha yeah right) we ended up eating dinner at a cute Polish restaurant called Dziupla.
Hiss! is a Queens based artist who’s cute and bizarre works of art are always scattered all over Brooklyn. Love these creepy little cats. Spotting them is always so exciting.
After dinner we met up with some friends and they took us to a few local spots. First being Rocka Rolla where they serve your beer in a schooner! Whats a schooner you ask?! A massive glass goblet! I also played shuffleboard for the FIRST time ever. I am now addicted.
Second stop, The Alligator Lounge. This place had the trifecta of all things epic. Karoke, a ski ball machine and a photo booth! AND the cherry on top.. with every beer you purchase they give you a ticket for a free pizza. Yes, I just said that. They were small little pizzas but come on are you serious? Thats amazing. Equally amazing is that Trish’s main mission was to sing karaoke this weekend.. and in the final hours her dreams came true! My first time EVER singing karaoke! I sung ‘Buddy Holly’ by Weezer andddd………. ‘Break Stuff’ by Limp Bizkit. HA.. so awesome/extreme.
Straight killin it ^^^^
SuperBowl Sunday. Brunch and then some football. YES and YES.
Two words. Egg Shop. We tried getting in on Saturday but it was so packed and after eating here I can see why. This may have been the best breakfast I’ve ever had.. and I am huge breakfast fan. I had a delicious egg sammie and their hash brown balls are, as the kid sitting at the table next to me stated, “BOMB”. Yeahhh, if you’re ever near Little Italy hit this place up!
WOW! Super packed weekend. So many new places, good times, late nights, good food, crafty drinks and of course GREAT music!!
This city definitely whooped me good, I’m still tired four days later, but it was so worth it. SO happy about how many fun and interesting events took place.
Going to Mount Snow in Vermont tomorrow morning for a two day ski trip! Excited to share that next week on the blog! Always finding ways to spend all my monnnneyyy, but generally always finding awesome ways to make awesome memories with the people I love :)
